Prince
In 1993, Prince changed his name to 
- the Love Symbol. But as you can't pronounce a symbol, we just referred to him as The Artist Formerly Known As Prince ... But he dropped the symbol in 2000 and now we can say his name out loud again!
During the eighties and early nineties, he was as big as Michael Jackson and Madonna, not just in sales but in talent - on his first 5 studio albums, the talented singer (and dancer!) played almost every instrument!
His 34th studio album, 20Ten , is due to be released this month, but in a bizarre way... (well, this is a guy who changed his name to a symbol!) Because Prince thinks that Internet music stores are a passing fad (like MTV) and will die out as fast as they appeared, none of Prince's music is available to download. In fact, you can't buy 20Ten anywhere, the only place you can get it is through a free giveaway in many newspapers across Europe! He's mad!
But he must have done something right, he's sold over 100 million albums in a career spanning three decades and won the lifetime achievement at the BET Awards this year!
