What would you say to someone considering volunteering on 'I have a Choice'?

IHAC Volunteer - Matilda Matilda: " I would say go for it! Certain experiences and opportunities do not come around very often. If some is offering you an opportunity of a life time, who are you to say no? I have a Choice has opened up many possibilities and contacts that if I hadn’t of become involved I wouldn’t have. And to help your local community gives you a feeling satisfaction, which you wouldn’t necessarily get from work! And it’s a whole heap of fun too!

IHAC Volunteer - Tijen What did you most enjoy about your volunteering experience?

Gemma: Having the opportunity to produce and present my own show and play my own choice of music, meeting new people, getting to interview Noel Clarke!!

Amazing experience! Would love to do something like that again.

What did you most enjoy about your volunteering experience?

IHAC Volunteer - Marianna Marianna: I enjoyed everything about the whole experience. I worked, eat and slept Radio for the 3 weeks solid and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I enjoyed coming to Reach FM HQ every morning with my set list and playlist. From finding out about new tracks, learning about music genres and also finding topics to talk about I found a great passion for Radio. I got a great sense of satisfaction from the knowledge that I did this as a volunteer and that I worked towards all my hours without any pay. I felt like I was helping people at Reach FM and also people who listened to the station. I learned about different cultures and different people which is amazing, as we were such a diverse bunch of people we all brought different aspects to the radio station, which you wouldn’t find at any other Radio station.
I learned how to put together a radio show and learned how to drive a desk. I found it astonishing that after 2 days I knew how to drive the desk myself without any help. I have always been very technical but even I was surprised by how fast I picked up these new skills.
I would do this again, if the opportunity arose again. Everything was well organised and I made some amazing friends and contacts.

What did you most enjoy about your volunteering experience?

IHAC Volunteer - Victor Victor: Being able to have a voice and play music that helps another artist music career. At Reach FM you could express yourself a bit more and there were no politics behind it.  The atmosphere amongst the group was great and we really worked well together. Loved every minute of the station.

Did you go any extra experiences if so did you find it useful?
I went onto the Arsenal FC tour; it was very useful because I learned a lot about how Arsenal became so successful over the years.

Any other comments about volunteering on Reach FM?

IHAC Volunteer - Luke Luke: Pretty much one of the best things i've ever done!!! By learning on the job i've gained such valuable experience that hasn't just equipped me for future employment but has improved my social and communication skills also. It's certainly a time i'll never forget!!
