Should dogs used by gangs be exterminated

Pets or threats? Have your say on Staffies

Dangerous Dog

The public are being pressed to vote online and join the discussion as part of the Hackney Hounds project on the growing issue of Staffordshire Bull Terriers and other ‘status dogs’.

Kayla Whiting, 20, Hackney Hounds producer/director said:
“A select few people use Staffs for gang status and fighting and treat them abusively. This is unfortunate for the majority of these dogs and owners because stereotypes from the media have given them a bad reputation.”

“150 dogs are put to death every week in the UK because of violence, abandonment, abuse and neglect. You wouldn’t treat children in this way so why is it acceptable for dogs?”

Kayla and the crew have spent the last two months creating ‘Life’s a Bitch’, a short film about the consequences of maltreatment. They hope the film will amplify the issue and open the discussion to a wider audience.

Anyone can register for the free screening and live vote on 19 August at The Richmix, Bethnal Green, and choose if they think these dogs are pets or threats at www.hackneyhounds.blogspot.com
