1867 play BHM1867
by Theresa Roche presented by Palladini Productions directed by R. Victor Williams

1867 is a moving new play inspired by the story of Madam CJ Walker, the first self-made African American female millionaire. Set during the late 1800's, a few years after slavery was abolished, the play celebrates the courage, strength and entrepreneurialism of Delilah McAndrew. The first member of her family to be born free Delilah overcame oppression, racial and sexual inequality not only to become a success but also to be renowned for her philanthropic work and willingness to help others. By the time of her death in 1919 Delilah McAndrew had built one of the largest black owned manufacturing companies in the world which included an international network of over 15,000 Delilah McAndrew agents.

Palladini Productions is the company behind the successful debut production I'm a Londoner, a play celebrating and exploring London's diversity. I'm a Londoner first appeared at the Tristan Bates Theatre and then transferred to sell-out performances at Jackson's Lane Theatre. 1867 is the company's second play which will feature during this year's Black History Month,
